It was during my bachelor's in computer engineering that I developed a keen interest in product development. I freelanced as a website developer at the startup incubation centre of my university for two years and after my graduation I naturally fell into a software engineer role. But as time passed, I realized that the challenges we faced were less about code and more about planning and clear requirements. My curiosity drew me to understand data and business better, and I started working as business analyst in early/mid stage companies.
After two years as a business analyst, I stood at a career crossroads. Inspired by some seniors, and acknowledged by my teammates for my good articulation skills, love for solving ambiguous problems, ability to quickly switch context between multiple projects, and staying calm in chaotic situation; I decided to try product management. I started with a program manager (product team) role. I boldly thought I could automate the role of product management in a year or two, and then decide what I want to do. I couldn't have been more wrong.
Fast forward three years, I found myself more clear on βwhy product management ?β. Software engineering/data analytics appealed to my love for intellectual challenges and system thinking, while product management gave me a bigger picture, different perspectives, and a balancing act. The questions of what, why, and for whom always mattered more to me than the how.
I love solving meaningful and challenging problems. I am strong in understanding the business context and translating it into the need for analytics & data science solutions to build and launch innovative Products.
